Our Cast

Carl Guthrie (Theodore Atwater III) is a recent immigrant from the shores of North Carolina, where he received degrees in History and Theatre from the excellent programs at UNC - Wilmington. He is thrilled to join the cast of Cinnamon as one of his first few projects in Texas.

Theodore is the 28 year-old heir to the Atwater legacy. He is unsure of his relationship with his girlfriend, Sophia, and keeps her at arm's length, not introducing her to his family. Theodore is charged with finding his grandfather a prostitute on the eve of his grandmother’s funeral.

Jerry Turman (Theodore "Teddy" Atwater, Sr.) began his work as an actor in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas as the Governor's Chauffeur in 1981.  Since that time, he has worked in a wide variety of film projects.  He is recognized for his 1995 roles as the "Raging Bull Auditioner" in Waiting for Guffman and his role in the Blue Bell Ice Cream commercial Going Home.  Turman grew up in East Texas on a dairy farm, served in the Navy in World War II on the destroyer escort USS Edwin A. Howard, DE  346, and graduated from The University of Texas at at Austin in January 1950. He had a career in management with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1951 to 1986. Jerry and his wife, Norma, have three children and six grandchildren.

Teddy is the 90 year-old patriarch of the Atwater family. A sweet old man on the outside, “full of life” on the inside. He has just lost his wife of 65 years and finds himself a single man again for the first time in his failing memory. His next move? Find a prostitute.

Megan Minto (Sophia) began regularly acting in high school, but the bug bit her much earlier than that. Her first experience in front of the camera was in the fourth grade, playing the role of "mouse" while reciting the poem "I Think Mice are Rather Nice". She studied Theatre and Music in college, and then headed to New York for further study at the Stella Adler Conservatory; and an Off-Off Broadway debut in the play That is the Question.  Megan has recently completed her role in Mike Akel's new feature film Out with the Family, in addition to producing and starring in a new short film Case File: The Smell of Lorne. Megan is also active in local theatre. She has recently been seen in Incorruptible with the Paradox Players, and is currently having lots of fun in the Capital City Mystery Players' dinner theatre show The Linguini Code. Megan is locally represented by DVA Talent.

Sophia is Theodore’s (possibly soon-to-be ex) girlfriend, who happens to look a great deal like the recently deceased Agnes Atwater.  She thought her relationship with Theodore was great until he refused to bring her to his grandmother's funeral

Charles Devany (Theodore "Ted" Atwater, Jr.) has acted in over twenty independent short films, several commercials and participated in several studios films as well, including the role of the U. S. President in Robert Rodriguez’s Spy Kids IV.  He is also active in the local theater scene and will be performing in the Champions Family, which he also wrote, as part of the Austin January – February 2011 Hyde Park Theatre Frontera Fest.  This will be Devany’s fourth Frontera piece and this summer he wrote “Winston’s Hands” as part of Muses IV.  Devany is an active improv actor working out of the Hideout Theatre since 2008 and has performed stand-up comedy and been a regular blogger for the website drashpit.com under the name "Vanilla Thunder".  He graduated from the University of Texas’ RTF program in 1984 and this will be his third graduate school film as actor in the past five years.

Ted is the 55 year-old son of Teddy senior and the recently deceased Agnes Atwater. Also father of Theodore. Ted lost his first wife years ago but has since remarried Meredith. Ted is a little awkward, the son of privilege who has never really had to work for anything in his charmed life.

Amory Casto (Meredith Atwater) has always had a love for films and the arts as long as she can remember.  She grew up on the coast of North Carolina and studied theatre and arts management at the College of Charleston.  She is still fairly new to the state of Texas. When she first arrived she was introduced to "In the Moment Meisner" coach Laurel Smith Vouvray.  Amory has often said that Laurel is the best teacher she has ever had.  Last year, just for fun, Amory took a screenwriting workshop and fell in love with writing in addition to acting.  Since then she has written two features, several shorts, and a full-length play.  Her play, What You Touch Is Gold, will be making its first stage appearance at the 2011 Frontera Fest.

Meredith is Ted’s second wife and Theodore’s stepmother. Meredith’s chief concern is ensuring that the Atwater estate stays in her husband’s hands, while a glass of wine remains in hers.

Eva McQuade (Rosa), a "recent" transfer from San Antonio, TX, has been making audiences laugh with The Denials, a San Antonio-based improv troupe found at The Overtime Theatre, for three years, and in other theater productions in San Antonio for as long as many can remember; but knew it was time to try Austin. She was most recently seen as Snug the Joiner/Lion in The Baron's Men production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Other recent theater productions include: Austin Shakespeare Bilingual Production of Romeo and Juliet, where she played The Nurse; Annie Get Your Gun at the Woodlawn Theatre; An Evening with Shakespeare, at the theatre at St. Mary’s University. Eva is quite excited about pursuing the acting bug in Austin and the prospects that await.

Rosa is Teddy's nurse who has transfered into Ted and Meredith's home with Teddy. She is the closest thing that Teddy has to an available woman, and thus she faces the brunt of his many unwanted advances.

Jace Pursley (Young Teddy) Coming Soon!

Young Teddy is Theodore Atwater, Sr in his youth while serving in the US Navy during World War II.  He's quite the ladies' man.

Stephanie BoWell (Young Agnes) Coming Soon!

Young Agnes is the only incarnation of the recently deceased Agnes Atwater seen in the film.  Her favorite holiday is Halloween because she loves to dress the part.
